Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan (first found there in December 2012).

A reasonably common species which can be found both in gardens, when it may often be found flying at dusk, as well as bamboo forested areas. It, however, is rarely encounted in the wild, unless disturbed, as it prefers to stay deep in the undergrowth.

The sexes differ in that the female has a broad white stripe on the forewing upperside.

Range

Peninsular Thailand, West Malaysia and Sumatra. Other subspecies found from India to China, Taiwan, Philippines and the Lesser Sunda Islands.
