Vindula erota erota
Fabricius 1793 - The Common Cruiser
Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan.
A large and common butterfly which shows extreme sexual dimorphism. It can be encountered almost anywhere on the Island. The male loves to puddle from roadside seepages, and enjoys drinking human sweat (it is not uncommon to have this species land on your skin or clothing).
The females tend to keep more to the canopy of woodland and are less often encountered than the male.
