Neptis hylas papaja
Moore 1875 - The Common Sailor
Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan.
Sexes similar.
This is, by far, the commonest of the Sailors. In Europe, the members of this Genus are known as 'Gliders', which aptly describes its style of flight, a short burst of wing beats followed by a gliding action. The species can be found everywhere on the Islands except in deepest forest. It has the most orange of underside colouration of all the members of the genus.
