Cethosia methypsea methypsea
Butler 1879 - The Orange Lacewing
Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan.
Not uncommon within open forest and forest edges. It is approaching its northernmost part of its range on the Islands. It is similar to Cethosia hypsea, but can be distinguished by the small white subapical spots on the forewing, which are absent on C. hypsea.
This species was previously considered a subspecies of C. penthesilia, but that species is now considered only to be found in the Papuan/Australian region.
