Machaerota signatipennis - Maa 1963

Photo taken at Ban Saket, Koh Samui, Suratthani Prov., Thailand on 11 January 2022.
A new record for Thailand, the species previously only known from the area surrounding Kuala Lumpus in Malaysia.
This species can be recognised by the combination of the following factors:
a) Very small size, no greater than 4.5mm.

b) Strongly upcurved white lateral stripe on the scutellum.
c) Strongly downcurved scutellar process.
d) On the tegmina, the black apical patch covers only cell 1.
Whilst this photo appears to cover all the neccessary aspects as given by Maa, 1963, absolute confirmation will only be possible from examination of the genitalia and DNA.
