Hypolimnas misippus misippus
Hubner 1819 - The Danaid Eggfly
Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan.
A surprisingly rare species on the Islands. The species shows remarkable sexual dimorphism. The females are superb mimics of the Danaid, Danaus chrysippus. The males can be seperated from the similar H. bolina, by the presence of a black costal spot on the hindwing underside.
This species can be found arround secondary vegetation.
