Acraea violae
Fabricius 1793 - The Tawny Coaster
Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan.
This common species was only first discovered in Thailand in 1980, since when it has spread like wildfire throughout the country and has now spread as far south as Singapore. This is because its foodplants are very common themselves.
It can be found in scrub wasteland throughout the Island and will also visit nearby gardens to feed on Lantana flowers.
