Zeuxidia amethystus amethystus
Butler 1865 - The Common Saturn
Koh Samui and Koh Pha Ngan.
A very large, and striking species, when seen flying. Its forewings have a broad iridescent blue band on the forewing, and a similarly coloured patch on the hindwing.
Not common on the islands, and can only be found in the dense forests. Like other members of this Family, it can be approached whilst feeding on the sugars from fermenting fallen fruits.
