Koh Samui only.

A very large species of the deep forest, seen flying along forest paths. When disturbed, it disappears quickly into the undergrowth, where it settles on leaf litter, and disappears completely, owing to its underside markings which provide superb camouflage.

A common species where its habitat occurs.

It can be approached while feeding on the fermenting sugars of fallen fruits, when it will often become 'mao' (drunk)! Otherwise it is a very wary species, difficult to get close to.
