Danaus genutia genutia
Cramer 1779 - The Common Tiger
Koh Samui only.
This species is seen surprisingly rarely on Samui. It is distinguished from the other Orange Tigers, by the orange hindwings, with the veins black. As with Danaus chrysippus, there is a form, found on the peninsular mainland where the hindwings are paler. This form is f. intermedius. So far, only the normal form has been seen on Samui.
It is found in secondary vegetation near forests, and is local in distribution.
